A fundamental operating principle of all Credit Unions is democratic ownership and it clearly sets us apart from other financial institutions. When you open an account at Tandia for personal, business or organization purposes, you are asked to make a one-time $25 Member Shares deposit to formally acquire your membership rights and privileges.
Your Member Shares entitle you to use all of the services of the Credit Union and have a vote on major issues placed before the Membership including the election of our Board of Directors. Member Shares are not a fee; they represent your share of democratic ownership in Tandia. Should you ever decide to leave, your Member Shares would be returned to you.
Member Shares are always listed as the first account in your regular statements and in your Account Summary in online and mobile banking. Every member will have Member Shares held in their own Member Shares account; even in the case of joint memberships, each member will have their own designated Member Shares account.
